The plastic surgeon/ENT doctor (yes, he's both) came by this evening to take out the girls' stitches. Erika had stitches around her right eye. Brittany had stitches in the area of her right ear. The doctor said the girls' looked much better than the last time he had seen them (last Monday). He also told Don and Jennifer to "Keep the faith".
Brittany's focus today has been water. She must be thirsty! She's still not allowed to eat or drink. She is slightly less agitated. Yesterday, she requested Don to come and pray with her. They took turns praying and Brittany prayed for everyone but herself!
Erika has been awake a lot more. It is still very painful for her when they suction her lungs.
The fever wars are back on. It is a normal part of the healing process. The war for Mom and Dad's attention has just begun. As the girls' are awake more, Don and Jennifer must divide and conquer. Each parents takes a daughter. If one girl is sleeping, then Don and Jennifer can sit together in the other girl's room.
The girls will be ICU for at least another week. Whatever comes next is still a mystery.

LISTEN TO OUR HEARTS
(by Steven Curtis Chapman and Geoff Moore)
YOU KNOW ALL OUR HOPES
LORD YOU KNOW ALL OUR FEARS
AND WORDS CAN NOT EXPRESS THE LOVE WE FEEL
BUT WE LONG FOR YOU TO HEAR
SO IF YOU'LL LISTEN TO MY HEART
EV'RY BEAT WILL SAY
THANK YOU FOR THE LIFE
THANK YOU FOR THE TRUTH
THANK YOU FOR THE WAY
LORD LISTEN TO OUR HEARTS HEAR OUR SPIRITS SING
A SONG OF PRAISE THAT FLOWS
FROM THOSE YOU HAVE REDEEMED
WE WILL USE THE WORDS WE KNOW
TO TELL YOU WHAT AN AWESOME GOD YOU ARE
BUT WORDS ARE NOT ENOUGH
TO TELL YOU OF OUR LOVE SO LISTEN TO OUR HEARTS
This is my favorite verse - it's from the Message, Col. 1:
ReplyDeleteWe pray that you'll have the strength to stick it out over the long haul—not the grim strength of gritting your teeth but the glory-strength God gives. It is strength that endures the unendurable and spills over into joy, thanking the Father who makes us strong enough to take part in everything bright and beautiful that he has for us.
I know for a fact that God does give this strength! This is my prayer for your family and my sister's family!!
Lynda - Rox's Sister
Amen. We're so thankful to read positive reports daily! We won't stop praying!
ReplyDeleteGod is listening. Love this song. I'm praying for you all to stay strong and be renewed every morning. Love you, Janet
ReplyDeleteI wanna say to my sisters and my brothers Keep the faith, When the storm flies and the wind blows Go on at a steady pace, When the battle is fought and the victory is won We call all shout together, "We have overcome!" We'll talk to the Father and the Son When we make it to the Promised Land.... Walk together little children, You don't ever have to worry, Through this world of trouble We gotta love one another, Let's take our fellow man by the hand Try to help him to understand We will all be together for ever and ever When we make it to the promised land. Our Bible reads, "Thou shall not be afraid Of the terror by night Nor the arrow that flies by day, Nor for the pestilence That walketh in the darkness, Nor for the destruction That waiteth in the noonday hour"........ This world is not our own, We're only passing through, Our treasure's all laid up Way beyond the blue, Let's do the very best that we can While we're traveling through this land We can all be together, Shakin' our hand in the air, When we make it the Promised Land. Children, we can Make it to the Promised Land, We can all be together For ever and ever When we make it to the Promised Land.
